Olivia joined SignalFire as a Research Scientist to help the portfolio and investment team make even better use of our data. She’s joining from UC Berkeley’s PhD program in Statistics, where she did research on causal inference methods. Previously, at Harvard, she did research in the data privacy space, showing how anonymization methods can statistically distort datasets and improving current algorithms to minimize this distortion.
Before her PhD, Olivia worked at Quora as a Data Scientist on the feed team and was heavily involved in their data research and metrics operations. She’s also interned in multiple roles for various tech companies, including as a Machine Learning Engineer for Coinbase, a Software Engineer for Google, and a Data Scientist for Akamai Technologies.
Outside of work, Olivia is an avid rock climber, and has recently climbed Half Dome in Yosemite and Mount Whitney with her partner. She loves playing almost any sport. She does the New York Times crossword puzzle daily, enjoys her three daily coffees (two of them are decaf), and loves philosophizing about big ideas.
